Leafkit blinked her amber eyes open as she heard the sound of her littermates giggling. She raised her head and saw them playfighting not too far from the nest.

"Hey!"She squeked, running over. "Why didn't you wake me?"

Lightkit and Falconkit exchanged a glance before Lightkit explained. "Mother said you weren't allowed to play with any other kits for a couple of days, and after the way you behaved with Crowkit, I don't blame her."

"Stuff your mouth with fresh-kill!"Leafkit hissed. "You would have fought against that piece of fox-dung too if you knew what he was saying!"

"Is that my kit whom I hear using inappropriate language?"Bramblestar's voice was heard as the large tabby entered the nursery.

"Oh yes, father!"Falconkit nodded his head. "Leafkit is saying bad words."

"Leafkit, may I speak with you?"Bramblestar fixed his kit in his amber gaze.

The she-kit sighed and glared at her brother as she padded past him.

"What's the matter with you?"The leader asked, towering over his daughter when they were sitting down a couple of tail-lenghts away from the nursery.

"They didn't ask me to play with them."Leafkit whimpered.

"But Squirrelflight told you you weren't allowed to play for some time."Bramblestar pointed out.

"Before she even did, they barely asked me to play! I always woke up to the sound of their giggling, but when I started a game, they said they were tired or hungry or thirsty!"Leafkit kneaded the ground in frustration. "I feel like I don't belong in this litter...are you sure I'm not the kit of someone else?"

Bramblestar stiffened at his kit's last words. He narrowed his eyes and gritted his teeth as he mewed. "Don't even joke about a thing like that!"

Leafkit felt herself shaking under her father's fiery gaze, but the brave litter kit continued. "But each of them have something special; Blazekit is like the leader, and Falconkit is the hunter, and Lightkit is the fighter...and I'm the outcast."

"Stop saying foolish things."Bramblestar scolded. "Now, go back into the nursery."

The brown tabby hunched her tiny shoulders as she sulked back into the den.

"Did you get in trouble?"Blazekit asked.

"No, he was just telling me how fluffy my fur looked!"Leafkit growled.

"Well, you deserve the scolding!"Falconkit shrugged his shoulders.

"That's it!"The she-kit hissed, leaping at her brother with unsheated claws. He bit into his ear and didn't let go while she scratched at her brother's chest and belly with her claws.

"Stop it!"Lightkit protested, launching herself at Leafkit and knocking her off their brother. "You could have hurt him really badly!"

Leafkit raked her claws on her sister's belly and shot to her paws. "Just leave me alone!"she yelled, running out of the nursery.

Behind her, Falconkit panted from the beating he had gotten.

"Are you alright?"Blazekit whispered.

"Remind me never to upset her again..."Falconkit whimpered.

                                                            ****
"Come on, Speckledkit!"Crowkit poked his sister with a tiny paw.

"Let me sleep!"the she-kit mewled.

"Wanna play, Mudkit?"The black tom turned to his brother.

"I'm tired."He yawned.

"You're tired all day!"Crowkit growled, biting his brother's tail.

Mudkit let out a yowl that woke up Ferncloud. "That's enough, Crowkit! I can't close my eyes without you causing trouble. Leave the nursery and come back when you're ready to be a good kit."

Crowkit muttered something before scampering out of the den.

"Got kicked out of the nursery?"Berrypaw, the son of Berrynose and Honeyfern, sneared.

"Why don't you just stay out of it?"The kit hissed.

"Ooh, I'm scared of the tiny kitten!"Berrypaw purred.

Crowkit flexed his claws and raked a front paw across the apprentice's nose.

Berrypaw growled. "You're going to wish you never did that!" He jumped and grabbed the kit in his jaws, shaking him until Crowkit thought his brain had gone down to his belly. Then, Berrypaw threw him on the ground. "Mess with me again, and it'll be worse, I promise!"The black kitten lay on the ground, his tail twitching. As he stumbled to his paws, another irritating voice reached his ears.

"I can't believe you got beaten up by Berrypaw!"Leafkit teased.

"He's three times my size!"Crowkit protested.

"I could have taken him on."The she-cat insisted.

"Yeah, and hedgehogs will fly!"Crowkit hissed.

"Hey, be thankful you didn't end up like Dreamkit."Leafkit muttered. "I heard she got send to the medicine cat den after she hit her head and started bleeding."

"I bet Berrypaw has something to do with it."Growled the dark gray kit.

"Still."Leafkit snickered. "It's pretty stupid how you let yourself be hurt by Berrypaw."

"I'm not hurt!"Crowkit countered.

"Yeah. I guess you were in his teeth because he was grooming you!"Leafkit fell on her back, laughing.

"You know, your jokes are getting older than StarClan." Crowkit bared his teeth.

"So are you're pitiful comebacks!"The tabby got to her paws again.

"I'll give you a comeback. If you're Squirrelflight doesn't save you from it again, that is!"Crowkit smirked.

"You're putting yourself in more danger than if you stuck your nose in a badger's mouth, you know that?"Leafkit grinned, with an evil look in her eyes.

"You're all mew and no battle!"Crowkit threw back at her.

"On the count of three then..." His opponent flexed her claws.

"With pleasure."Ferncloud's kit tensed his muscles. "One..."

"Two..."Leafkit half-whispered.

There was a moment's pause before they both yelled. "THREE!" Both kits slammed into each other, yowling at scratching wildly, while biting the other's ears and paws. Then, they lept back, panting and bleeding.

"Give up?"Crowkit tried to hide the cough in his voice.

"Not before you..."Leafkit's breathing was quick. There was another fury of teeth and claws before both lay on the ground, their sides heaving, their pelts spotted with blood, and patches of fur missing.

"Leafkit!"Squirrelflight's scowl made the tiny she-kit wince.

Dustpelt was soon standing beside his son. "What do you think you're doing, Crowkit?!"

"He started it!"Leafkit horsely mewed.

"She-" Crowkit began but was cut of by his own cough. "She asked for it!"

"That's enough!"Squirrelflight hissed, giving Leafkit a cuff across the ears. "There has never been a kit so disgraceful in all of ThunderClan as to attack their own Clanmate!"

"You're going to see Jayfeather and then stay in the nursery with no coming outside for a quarter moon!" Dustpelt punished his son.

"But-"Crowkit's mew was drowned by his father's voice.

"Utter one more word and I'll make it a whole moon!"The brown tom's glare seemed to be burning into his son's matted pelt."Now, march straight into the medicine cat's den and tell Jayfeather what happened."

"You two, Leafkit, and I'll be watching you the whole way, so don't try anything funny!"The ginger warrior commanded.

Crowkit dragged his paws to the medicine cat's den, feeling that they would give away from exhastion.Leafkit padded at his side, and since one of her right paws was injured, she sort of tilted to one side and on occassion, her pelt brushed his. Everytime this happened, Crowkit felt like he had brushed against this pelt before, a long time ago. Finally, they burst into the medicine cat's den. Jayfeather turned to them, an annoyed look on his face.

"What happened to you?"He demanded.

"We got in a fight..."Leafkit mewed, ashamed.

"With who?"Jayfeather asked.

"With each other."Crowkit mumbled.

"Just what I need! Another two injured kits! You'll have to wait because I'm treating Dreamkit right now."His fur looked like it had been groomed the wrong way and his tail flicked with anxiety."Lay down on a nest."

Crowkit eyed the nests lining the medicine cat's den and then Leafkit pointed out what he'd been thinking. "There's only one left!"

"Then share it!"Jayfeather grunted.

"I'm not sharing a nest with a mange-ridden crowfood eater like her!"Crowkit protested.

"Neither of you are in a position to be picky!"The gray tom growled, "Now lay down on that nest or visit Barkface in WindClan if you want to be treated!"

Both kits slumped into the nest, much to tired to argue. It could have been the fact that they were tired or just didn't care anymore that they layed down beside one another, the tips of their pelts touching.

Leafkit sighed. "An honorable warrior admits the skills of another. As much as I hate to say it...you fought well."

"You weren't so bad yourself."Crowkit mewed cooly, although his wondered if Leafkit could feel the heat pulsing from him.

"Don't think I like you now, thought."Leafkit snorted."You're still the cat I hate most."

"Wouldn't dream of it and right back at you."Crowkit couldn't keep the amusement out of his voice as he said that.

                                                      ****
"They nearly killed each other!"Bluestar gasped."Are you sure you were right of sending them back, Firestar?"

Firestar nodded. "They deserve the second chance..."

"Why couldn't they like each other from the beggining, though."A young apprentice beside the fiery leader asked.

"Because, Shrewpaw, this second chance is to reward them for their loyalty, but it is also a test...a test to see if what they have for each other is really love..."Firestar explained.

I can't stop reading. It's so amazing. I could pull so many things out of this one and tell you why I love them so much. You should be an author when you grow up.
